What this is

Clearcharge makes hospital prices in Georgia searchable. Hospitals are required to publish what they charge under the CMS Hospital Price Transparency Rule (45 CFR 180.50), but they publish it as machine-readable files that are not designed to be read by patients — hundreds of thousands of rows, inconsistent code formats, and payer names that differ from the name on your insurance card. This site parses those files and lets you look up one procedure at one hospital under one plan.

How it is paid for

It is run by one person, and it is free to use — there are no accounts, no subscriptions and no paid tier. The commitment that matters is narrower and permanent: no hospital, hospital system or insurer pays for placement here, and no result is ever ordered or ranked by payment. A site that tells you what a hospital charges should not also be taking money from anyone with an interest in what you conclude.

Report a price that looks wrong

This is the most useful thing you can send us. Every price here comes from a hospital's own published file, so if a number looks wrong it usually means one of three things: the hospital published it that way, our parser misread their format, or the code is being matched to the wrong procedure. All three are worth knowing about, and the second and third are ours to fix.

Including the hospital name, the procedure or code, and what the page showed you is enough to chase it down.

What this site cannot tell you

• The surgeon's bill. Hospital price files cover the facility's own charges. The surgeon, the anaesthesiologist and the radiologist bill separately and appear in no hospital file, by construction — so a hospital price is never the whole cost of an operation.
• What you personally will owe. That depends on your deductible, your out-of-pocket maximum and how much of both you have already used. A negotiated rate is what the hospital and insurer agreed on, not your share of it.
• Whether the price is current. Hospitals must update these files at least annually, and some are considerably older than that. Each hospital page shows how old its file is.
